Story
Lokanarkavu Temple is deeply connected with the legendary warrior hero Thacholi Othenan, the famous protagonist of the Vadakkan Pattukal (Northern Ballads) of Kerala. According to local beliefs and folklore, Thacholi Othenan was a devoted worshipper of Lokanarkavu Bhagavathy and sought the blessings of the goddess before every battle and important mission. It is believed that the divine protection and strength granted by the goddess helped him achieve victory in many heroic encounters. Because of this association, the temple became spiritually connected with warriors and practitioners of Kalaripayattu. The stories of Othenan and Lokanarkavu Bhagavathy continue to live in Kerala’s folklore, songs, and cultural traditions.
