History

The temple was built in the 17th century by the Ikkeri Kings to serve warriors brought from Karnataka. According to local belief, the idol of Lord Shiva was consecrated by Arjuna, linking the temple to the Mahabharata. It later faced neglect and was relocated in 1977 due to railway development, followed by reconstruction and renovation efforts completed around 1985.
