According to local belief, the idol of Lord Subrahmanya installed at Payyanur has a divine connection with the famous Palani Murugan Temple in Tamil Nadu. It is believed that Sage Parasurama consecrated the deity during his creation of Kerala. Devotees believe that worshipping here brings courage, prosperity, protection from negative energies, and blessings for children and education. The temple is also associated with the sacred Pavithra Mothiram tradition, which symbolizes purity and spiritual protection.
